Welcome all!!!
We are very busy working on Granddad's Greenhouse, carrying on
the good work that has gone before.
At the moment, we are concentrating on the polytunnel, putting
staging up (Benches to non-gardeners), making a potting bench,
laying flag paths, a flagged patio area and gravel beds. We are
also establishing a proper shed for tools.
As many of you know, the idea behind this
project is to support all ages in getting involved in growing,
planting and understanding the earth. We will be running a
programme during 2007 which will incorporate badge work for all
sections, beavers, cubs and scouts. All are welcome to join in.
There are a number of badges that can be earned either by
working as a part of our Service Team (More on that later),
taking part in the Grow Force programme or coming on a short
visit.
A list of dates will appear in Woodsmoke.
There will be some day courses, some weekends and campers
staying at Waddecar will be welcome to take part during their
camp.
Of course there will be some hard work but also a lot of fun
such as nature walks in different seasons, competitions to grow
the tallest sunflower, nature crafts and perhaps even a "grow
the hottest chilli" competition!
We already have a small and devoted team and
we are currently recruiting more to join our Service Team as we
need more help from all ages in Scouting.
The badge course will start in March 07 and
run through until the end of September.
Watch this web site for dates and further
information.
Cheers for now
